So, back in 1240, there was a brave man named Voivode Dmytro who was in charge of defending the beautiful city of Kyiv from a fierce group of warriors called the Mongols, led by a guy named Batu Khan. Despite Dmytro's courageous efforts to protect his home, the Mongols were incredibly powerful and ultimately took over the city. It was a tough time for the people of Kyiv, but their spirit and stories would live on through the ages!
